Fleet maintenance reporting system operated by Residential Fences Corp.. Last updated September 2026.
What this system is
An internal tool for reporting and repairing problems on vehicles and equipment owned by Residential Fences Corp. and its affiliated companies, Laser Industries and CMI. It is used by our employees, contractors and mechanics. It is not a consumer service and we do not send marketing messages.
What we collect, and why
- Your name and mobile number, entered once when you first report a problem, so the shop knows who reported it.
- Photos you take of the problem. They are attached to the work order as the record of the condition reported.
- Your location at the time of a report, only if you allow it when your phone asks. Declining never prevents a report.
- Technical details of the device used to submit (browser type, screen size, a one-way hash of these, the network address), used to prevent abuse and to recognise your phone so you don't re-enter your name each time.
- The time of every report and every status change, used for repair-time and downtime reporting.
Text messages (SMS)
We text you only if you tick the box labelled “Text me when this repair is done” when you enter your mobile number. Ticking it is optional; you can report problems without it. If you tick it, Residential Fences Corp. will send you a text message when a repair you reported is completed, and occasionally a follow-up question from the shop about that report. Message frequency varies with how many reports you make. Message and data rates may apply.
To stop: reply STOP to any message and you will receive no further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email mechanics@rfcfence.com. Opting out of texts does not affect your ability to report problems.
Shop staff who have chosen to receive them are also texted when a unit is reported Down or a safety concern is raised. Staff can turn this off in their account at any time.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Who can see it
Shop staff and fleet management at Residential Fences Corp. see reports, photos and reporter names. You can see the reports you submitted from any tag. Repair cost information is restricted to management and is never shown to reporters or mechanics.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the system — our database and file host, our text-message carrier and our email provider — each acting on our instructions to deliver the service. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Work orders, photos and reporter records are kept for the life of the equipment as its maintenance history. You may ask us to remove your name and number from the reporter list by contacting the shop; past work orders keep their history.
